[Health] Skype-- Sanitation/Water

Hi Mike,
I encourage you (and any other Health Team member who doesn't have an XO and needs one for this project) to apply right away, as in this week, to get one free via the Contributors Program. The process is easy and we meet on line (irc) every Friday to read and decide on projects to approve. If you could get your application in by Thursday you should be able to have it considered this week. If it is approved, you will usually get your XOs within a week or two.
Here is the link to the Contributors Program:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Contributors_program
And here is the link to the application:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Contributors_program/Project_proposal_form
Read as much as you have time for... there is lots of good info here... and if you have any questions, email me. If you plan to do this, I will create a "ticket" for you in our RT system where we keep messages about projects, questions, and that sort of thing.
Caryl

Jeez, that sounds like it's a long time coming. I had to google what a circle sawn floor looks like - very interesting finish.

I'm very excited about this project. There's no doubt in my mind that I'll be able to find more qualified help, at least to create content. I will be asking people in the higher level BIO classes for help as an example of exciting projects they can participate in if they join the pre-med club. The department chair said I'll probably be able to present it before the start of their classes.

I would really love to have an XO laptop to use as a visual aid when demonstrating the project. My XO "contact" hasn't answered his home or work phone in a while so he might be traveling. Anyone have any ideas? I want to make a memorable impression in the few minutes I'll have before the start of their classes and the XO will interest them. I want to do this as early as possible.

Thanks,

Mike

I'm retired so that means no holidays! We "labor" every day*. 3 PM EDT is right in the middle of our "work day" (1 PM MDT) but it may work out. That is the reason 9am EDT is almost always ok because it is only 7am here (and 6 am when I get back to CA). I will try to be free Monday.

*We are working on finishing a log house that was started for us by a contractor back in 2000. Ed (my husband) is putting down a circle-sawn cedar floor. I am doing finish work.

I added Chris Watkins who is also interested. Can we make it in the afternoon instead? It seems 3 PM EDT would be good with Mike.

that works for me, but every other monday at 12pm EDT I have class. I'll be walking out the door around 11am. Mondays I'm free until 11am EDT and then 3pm to 5pm.

Should I be replying to these kinds of emails to the health at lists.laptop.org address?

Hi all,

Can we try for Monday morning or afternoon (looks like this is becoming a trend)? That way we can spend a couple of days finishing off the topic list, getting some ideas of how to present them and then come ready to divide on Monday.

How does 11am EDT sound for people? I know it's a holiday so if you'd rather do it later, or on Tuesday, just keep me posted.

See you at 11am EDT on Monday if not anything else.

Hi...

I have company coming for dinner tomorrow evening, but if we do it early enough... say 1:00PM or 1:30PM MDT. it would work out. Maybe even earlier. I will be putting a clear finish on a door tomorrow morning and can't start too early because it isn't warm enough.

Hi everyone,

Looks like we've got some new faces to complete our team. And more great news-- we only need two more sanitation topics and one more water topic before we've completed our unit outline! Let's Skype to divvy up lessons and get cracking.

I'm free anytime today, tomorrow or next week, including Monday, up until about 5pm EDT each day. Sat/Sun are not good for me, however.

In the meantime, let's finish fleshing our lessons out and if you have any particular ideas as to how to present something, add it to the outline. If we can have a pretty good outline by the time we Skype that would be great!

Beth
