Nice idea, but I wouldn't make it daily for some things. It is best that we not encourage students, especially girls, to obsessively weigh themselves daily. We don't want to encourage eating disorders, which we see too much of here in the "developed" countries.
Another thing that could perhaps interface would be BP or heart rhythms if they have made a probe to use with measure. I don't know how hard that is to do, but people have made them.

This looks like a great idea from Elsa. Also think it might be something that could be easily created using the exe platform that Mike/OLPC Afghanistan is developing...?

Hi,

I've been off the grid for the past few weeks, so I'm not 100% sure what's going on with this, but I had one idea:

A health-logger activity that would allow students to keep track of various (customizable) personal health information on a daily basis. Any data could be visualized on the computer or exported in a format that doctors could easily read. It would be nice if it could start up automatically when the computer is turned on for the first time every day.

I also could not send this to the list I was replying to...not sure why.-Elsa

These are definitely all great ideas. I honestly haven't even had a chance to look at the malaria activity so I'm definitely disappointed that it falls so short. I think making Etoys projects would be a great way to have something that non-technical people would easily be able to manipulate. Ill ask the etoys team if they know anyone who has created etoys projects in the health field already. With appropriate funding I'm sure teachers I know in Sao tome and Haiti would also be interested in adapting and also translating content.

Hi All...
Along these same lines, we should probably find out what has already been done for Health Topics for Sugar and the XO and for other means of presentation. I, for example, will put out queries to the OLPC-sur list and the other lists in Latin America to see what they have that they would like to share with us. I'll also contact the folks from the PCUSA's Living Waters Project to see if they have any educational materials we can adapt/adopt.

Perhaps some of you who are fluent in other languages or have contacts in other regions could do the same. Then we can have a list of resources to draw upon. We all know the old saying about not trying to re-invent the wheel.

Hi Beth,

I have been speaking with our Health people and I would like to pass on some comments...
