We will soon be faced with the perspective of deployments involving french
speaking countries/regions (aka francophones countries, both in the "North"
(Louisiane, Québec, France, Belgique, Switzerland, etc.) and in the "South"
(Maghreb, Subsaharian Africa, Near-Ost, SO-Asia, Pacifics, etc.). Note that most
so called "francophone" regions are multilingual ones, with local languages
which might benefit as well from the global and francophone OLPC effort (Haiti
is an concrete example of that situation).

For this regions especially, we may see 4 issues where the role of volunteers
will be an important factor and in which Grassroots organization like OLPC
France will have to contribute, with the help of a whole ecosystem of
participants :

- the people to be involved with diverse actions (teachers, school kids,
grassroots, NGOs, locale/national/supranational administrations) either as
individuals or as groups

- the financement (either local (private or public) or through various support
programs (G1G1, francophone organizations, global education programs,
NGOs)

- the infrastructure (deployments of XO and the accompanying measures)

- the contents to be created, localized, adapted/redesigned, or shared

- the promotion through public actions (pilots, conferences, lobbying,
formations)

Grassroots organizations in general and OLPC France especially will address
these 4 issues in the context of the "francophony" where the common use of the
french language may help realize economies of scale and reinforce links between
the organizations involved in the global effort, especially in the deployments.

Best regards,

Samy
