[OLPC-Games] Advice to a fledgling programmer

Hello, I am new to the list and new to programming. My formal training
has been focused on C++ and javascript. That said, I am very excited
about OLPC, and through the G1G1 should be getting one shortly. I hope
to start working right away on a game I've conceived... but in the
interim, until the laptop arrives, I have some time to learn python!
Can anyone offer advice on resources or books that they consider most
useful to someone with very limited experience in programming, and
whether this might be a good way to 'begin'?
