Using ext4 usb drive to go to 13.1.0

I found out that the drive isn't getting mounted if it is plugged in before 
starting to boot. If I replug the drive once I am at the OK (openfirmware)
prompt, then the drive gets mounted. I was able to do an update to 13.1.0.
