The LO tag in your laptop is incorrect.

It should have been "en_US.UTF-8" (with an extra dash). I've already
seen another XO-1.5 like this, but it was a pre-production unit.

Since you get en_US.UTF-8 either way, I would tend not to bother fixing
this bug neither in olpc-configure nor in your mfg-data.
