Account creation on Jabber

How does one trigger the account creation on the XMPP server from  
Sugar ?
After registering with a school server, the "Register" option in the  
Home Screen
goes away (nice!), and /home/olpc/.sugar/default/config now reports that
[Jabber]
registered = False
server = schoolserver

Nothing I do (reboot, run chat, etc.) seems to trigger actual  
registration with
the Jabber server.   How do I force this ?
