reverting to ancient gstreamer, good time to implement change control?

I think this is a fine solution for the moment.  Let it rest, and save
your time for more salvagable ventures.  We can move forward when we
have more time to spend on the issue and/or gstreamer understands itself
better.  You have made it a long way towards the completion of a
much-needed rewrite of Record but there isn't time to complete it prior
to the release.
