Networking hangs

I'm running os637 over a USB Ethernet.

After a while (1 to several hours), the network stops working. The mouse
still works, at least until I try something that's too complicated.

os623 didn't have this problem.

I haven't figured out what I'm doing (if anything) to trigger this.

There are several WiFi stations within range but they are never used for
traffic. They show up on the Neighborhood view along with many children and
a few other things. (I think they are from a fake mesh using ethernet back
to ???)

The symptom from the outside is that the arp cache entry has timed out.

>From the inside, /sbin/ifconfig hangs. ps ax shows ifconfig in state D+ I
assume it's waiting on some netework lock.

I poked around with the log viewer. There were several dbus errors. I didn't spot anything that was an obvious networking problem. I could easily have missed something.

Rebooting spewed many screens full of stuff that went by too fast for me to read.

Is this a known problem? If not, what should I do to get more info? ...

It just happened again, about 1/2 hour after rebooting. I was looking at the Neighborhood view. No activities have been started. ntpd is running.
