I prefer the second option - we have gone to a lot of work to make sure
that PCI virtualization works for the Geode, and it does for the most part
(USB and audio are two good examples of that). I would like to stay true
to the PCI model if at all possible.
I'll look into the multiple PCI driver solution as well - that seems like
the right way to go.
I haven't gotten into it - so I don't know how long it will take to hack
together a reasonable solution. And time is of the essence - we have
people chomping at the bit to start power management work. They don't
really *need* a working smbus and MFGPT to resume, assuming that we don't
use nohz and the display (i.e. - resume to a serial console), though I
think that people will want to go that route pretty quickly.
Andres - its your kernel - what do you think? Do we suffer without the
smbus and MFGPT for a few weeks, or do we check in this code and revert
it later when we get a better solution?
