We do try to keep emulation unbroken, but the issue was whether it was
a Trial-2 blocker to have emulation working.  It was decided that it
wasn't, since the Trial-2 machines are (naturally) real machines.  It
shouldn't be hard to get #1977 fixed now that the Trial-2 freeze is
past.  (Andres is the one to bug about that.)
