Confirmed that with 2378, one can flash the SPI and boot.  
Kudos all about - Richard and Ron, feel free to add a few beers on the 
big board under your names.

I will very soon check in the SPI fixes, and also a package to build
olpcflash into the ROM image (taking up all of 7k).
