[olpc-help] HELP! Removing files from OLPC using linux??

Hello,

I am a new XO user and have never used  Linux. I recently followed
instructions to download a Flash Player zip file (here is a link to

The zip file opened  into three files, but none of the steps after
"tar xvf install_flash_player_9_linux.tar.gz" work. I keep getting
error messages. It wont let me make a directory (mkdir, I assume) or
move the files (mv, I assume). Now I just want to get rid of the
unzipped files altogether so they don't take up space, but I have no
idea how to work Linux. I know, I probably shouldn't have followed
directions if I couldn't reverse them, but now I'm stuck  and need
help.
I'd appreciate any advice you can give.
