I'd be more than a little concerned with the additional percentage that have not been used that heavily yet, and have not developed keyboard problems but will eventually. There needs to be some sort of good-faith effort by OLPC to repair keyboards, or mail out replacement keyboards, on units that exhibit exactly this failure after their so-called "warranty" has expired. The problem has been identified as a known manufacturing defect, and as-such should be covered under some sort of recall program (and in fact may be legally required to be.) I know that I'll be banging the hell out of my replacement unit during the 30 days after I receive it, but I'd hate to see the s**t hit the fan for those donors who are not so agressive.
How is OLPC handling units with this defect that are being shipped to foreign governments? Once you've isolated it to a specific production run, will all suspect XOs be recalled?
