[olpc-help] Recover process => Boot failed. Cause for RMA?

G1G1[D1] machine: powering on holding the "O" game key results in the messages:
 Boot failed
 Powering off in 10 seconds

This happened with the system as delivered, and after successfully reflashing the NAND (to build 650). Other users seem to have no problem using the steps in the Support FAQ, # 10.4 "How can I restore my Give1Get1 XO to its factory configuration?" Or have other folks also encountered this error, and not been able to fix it by reflashing?

Everything else seems to work OK much like any other G1G1/650, based on my not very extensive testing of the core activities. Normal boot is fine, and all the other cheat codes operate as described. My flash memory has 9 bad blocks, if that's at all relevant.

Since my warranty only lasts until 01/28, I'd like to know ASAP if this failure indicates some deeper issue requiring an exchange. Thanks much for any advice. A quick yes/no would be fine; an explanation of the failure would be a bonus!
