Thanks Richard,
It looks like we're getting closer.... I used the new batman.fth. After running
‘bat-set-low' I removed all power, and it promptly shut down. When I took out the
battery and then put it back in, the battery light turned red for about 20 seconds
and then turned off. I removed the battery, powered up on the cord-only. ran
logbat, inserted battery, and things seemed to be going fine. It started at
zero% and charged to ~21% in about 30-minutes or so with the battery current being
in the 7 digits the whole way. At 21%, it then jumped to 81%, the battery current
dropped to 3 digits, and in a matter of seconds hit 97% Full, Full. When I
unplugged, the computer promptly shut down.
As you suggested, I repeated the whole process. After running 'bat-set-low' I removed
all power, and it promptly shut down.
When I took out the battery and then put it back in, the battery light turned red
for about 20 seconds and then turned off. I removed the battery, powered up
on the cord-only. ran logbat, inserted battery, and things seemed to be going fine. It
started at 14% but within a minute or two jumped to 81% then 97% Full, Full.
This time, though, when I removed the cord, it started discharging as one might
expect current in the negative 6-digits (~ -980K) counting down from 97% (Discharging,
Full)...at 92% became "Discharging, Normal", and around 75% shut down
completely (after about 45 minutes).
On the third time around, the red light came on as before
when I removed and re-inserted the battery.
This time on the recharging, it started at 0% promptly jumped to 81%
then 97% (Full, Full) - taking a total of less than a minute, and then instantly shut down when I unplugged the cord.
So, what’s next?
Once I get the log files in the olpc users home directory, how do access them (for
including in an e-mail) or copy them to the USB?
Thanks again for all your help!
Cheers,
Andy
