Does it matter if they are FAT16, FAT32, or which? 

I think so, I found a smaller, FAT (FAT16) thumb drive was recognized, while a larger drive I had formatted to FAT 32 was not, but maybe it was just too big and had some files already. The XO wants to make an index of all the files before you can see it, and I may have been impatient.
