[olpc-community-support] Jumpy mouse problem

Hi all,

Unfortunately, the day after I installed build 653 as Joe suggested, the problem of the jumpy mouse has recurred. I did not turn off the OLPC last night, just closed the case and left it plugged in. When I opened it this morning, the mouse pointer was very hard to control and, after a few minutes, it started jumping all over the screen even when I was not touching the touchpad. When it became impossible to control, I restarted the computer, but shortly after that the mouse pointer was again jumping all over the screen.

I was very much hoping that Joe's suggestion would solve the problem. Now I understand that this is a bug that has been known for some time, although no one else has mentioned the pointing jumping all over even without anyone touching the laptop. I am very disappointed and am wondering whether this could be a hardware problem. In the latter case, perhaps I should send back the OLPC within the 30 day period.

I would appreciate any further thoughts or suggestions. Thanks to all who have participated in this thread. javascript:emoticon(':(')
