Comment:
I'm sorry you've had a bad experience, but if this is your first attempt
to use Android on any device I'm not surprised. It is not a particularly
discoverable operating system.
The device is rooted. The serial port has a root shell. The firmware is
open once you have a developer key.
The app you used for checking the device is unable to check the serial
port for a root shell, or the firmware, or appreciate that you can root it
by building the Android operating system yourself using our
[http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Android/Building instructions], or by booting
Linux. The app has lied. We don't support that app. Go raise a ticket
with that app author.
The Android OS shutdown feature is documented in the Android OS
documentation, which we are not hosting here at laptop.org. The sequence
to shutdown is to hold the power button only until the menu appears, and
select the option.
On the other hand, the sequence to shutdown in OLPC OS is a power button
press while the power menu is shown. The power menu is shown using an
initial power button press.
We require that Android on the OLPC XO react like Android on any other
device.
We do not require compatibility between OLPC OS and Android on the XO.
The Android and OLPC OS force power off feature remains the same; hold the
power button until the power indicator goes off.
Sorry, we won't be fixing these issues; they are all a problem of
training. Closing ticket.
