Comment (by Quozl):

 Tested without #12850 fix, no change.

 Tested Epiphany 3.10.3:
  * the slider animation is of the order of two frames a second,
  * there is image stippling,
  * CPU is 32% utilised, 28% browse, 4% X server,
  * the mouse cursor is responsive,
  * no memory leak is observed.

 The same version of WebKit is used by both Epiphany and Browse, but not by
 Firefox.
