 Just to confirm: has the snd_mixer_poll_descriptors change (aka "proposed
 solution", as opposed to the "alternate solution") of yours from
 [http://dev.laptop.org/ticket/9913?replyto=40#comment:9 comment #9] been
 rejected as  too close to the hardware?  I don't want to sidetrack us onto
 the "alternate solution" if the "proposed solution" is better / preferred.
