 This is all encouraging. I'm glad you got a test unit. I hope not too many
 innocent fruits were harmed making pianos.

 I also realized that Sparkfun sells a battery powered bluetooth interface
 for the Makey Makey which enables wireless use with desktop PCs, laptops
 and tablets (including iOS devices!). So I will also pursue this option
 and see if a USB bluetooth dongle will work with the XOs and the latest
 OS.
