 What I noticed (on os14) is that to produce the "freeze" you must first
 click in one of the suggested updates (ie assume you do not want it
 updated).
 Then two things happen: A) the activity does not get "unchecked" B) the
 process "freezes" exactly at the point that is about to update the said
 activity.
 If you do not go through this step, then the entire update process
 proceeds normally.
