 In 12.1.0 os11, /dev/dsp:

  * Is created by a module (snd-pcm-oss) that is not loaded by default on
 XO-1
  * Does exist by default on XO-1.5
  * Cannot be created on XO-1.75 as the ALSA OSS driver is not compiled by
 default.

 This came up recently on the support-gang mailing list as someone was
 creating a native-binary-based activity which used a game engine that used
 OSS.
