Comment(by godiard):

I have compiled the sources the last time, and can do it again.

The last time I sent the following mail with my findings (copied here for
 reference):

"As discussed in the last meeting with Martin, I have builded Scratch
binary plugins for XO-1.75. (Tickets SL #3112 and OLPC#11238)

Here is a summary information for the posterity (or for who need compile
 them for XO-4)

Derek O'Connell doc at doconnel.f9.co.uk confirmed the last sources are in
 this [1] repo.

 Then I downloaded the sources

 svn checkout http://my-svn.assembla.com/svn/scratchonlinux

The only needed directory is src/plugins.

In th xo the packages needed to compile the plugins are make, gcc, libv4l-
 devel and pango-devel

After compile the plugins, (very easy, only make in every directory) we
need include the binaries to both architectures in the xo file,
we can do it adding a parameter -plugins in the line executing squeak in
 the scratch-activity script,
and pointing to different directories for every architecture.

I have tried recompiling the CameraPlugin in xo-1.5 to see if the bad
 quality image in xo-1.5 [2]
can be due a to a change in the underlying libraries, but the quality is
 the same.

A bundle available to testing is here [3] (tested in xo-1.5 and xo-1.75
 with os8)
