 The bug suggested was given to me by Reuben.  Etckeeper shows that as
 initially configured by Anaconda(?), the HWADDR variable is set, but we do
 not preserve it.

 Perhaps http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-
 US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/Deployment_Guide/s1-networkscripts-
 interfaces.html (for RHEL 6) is a more up-to-date link.  See the sections
 on HWADDR and MACADDR, although it looks like this is describing the same
 thing.
