Comment(by greenfeld):

 A search for 058f:6387 on Google finds a few complaints about this flash
 controller. These complaints range from not working in certain
 environments to its {ab}use of autorun (exposing a CD-ROM node in some
 applications). Sticks falsifying their actual storage while using this
 controller also are known, and the controller can be reprogrammed to
 report the proper amount {and presumably tweaked in other ways}.

 But as said this could be rather expensive to look into unless we really
 need to, or are that curious.

 The software to reprogram this controller seems to generally be hosted on
 less than reputable sites.
