 I see the same problem, but it never goes away.
 I'm running 8.2.1 (build 802).  It was working 2 years ago (last time I
 powered it on), but the network hasn't come up once in the last 2 days,
 after several boots, both cold and restarts, with or without much battery
 power.

 My real-time clock had also gone way out of date (1999-11-30), but I just
 changed it with the "date" command it and has worked fine since.

 I attached my olpc-log output.
