Comment:

 I still do not quite get what we are checking for.

 If there is a /var/lock/LCK..ttyUSB# file present, where # is a number,
 powerd inhibits suspend as expected.

 There is a lock check in powerd for "/var/lock/LCK..USB*".  But screen
 does not write a lock file in /var/lock, and neither does Minicom.

 The pppd daemon will write a lock file such like "LCK..ttyUSB0" - but in
 /var/lock/ppp/ , not just /var/lock.  The current check does not spot
 this.
