 Thanks.

 The initial errors on your screenshot could be filesystem or partitioning
 related.  The later errors, ''Failed to set device address'', suggest a
 signal or communications problem.

 Could you please try using a hub, just as a test.

 Could you please provide an image of the USB drive.  I will use this image
 to see if I can reproduce the problem, thus excluding partitioning and
 filesystem format.

 To make the image, remove any files you don't want me to see, or don't
 need to be present, create a file filled with zeros,

 {{{
 dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/drive/zeroes bs=4096
 }}}

 then test that the problem still occurs, and create an image file;

 {{{
 dd if=/dev/sdc of=/tmp/11521.img bs=4096
 gzip -v9 /tmp/11521.img
 }}}

 then provide the file by http or contact me by e-mail.  quozl at laptop.org.
