 Unless you're seeing this effect elsewhere, I'd be surprised if it were an
 Xv problem.

 I can take a peek at the code and try to see if there's something obvious;
 what's the tree du jour?  But, without the actual hardware in hand, there
 will be limits to my ability to debug this one.
