 It's not just office applications - Audacity is another example.

 I could have sworn we had a metabug on this already but I cannot easily
 locate it.

 If I remember the problem correctly, these issues are due to the XO's
 physical display resolution (201 dpi) being different than what most other
 displays have (96 dpi).  Applications and/or parts of GTK which presume
 the usual value might not be looking out for our special case.
