 This is again a case of the wrong thing happening when a composite
 operation goes outside the bounds of the source drawable. libgfx or
 something lower-level (maybe the hardware) just returns junk.

 I assume we don't have good documentation that might explain the hardware
 behaviour in these cases, and unlike #12138 I haven't got lucky and found
 a way to control the behaviour here, so I think the way forward is just to
 modify the request in the driver.

 Here's a patch that fixes this case (no repeat). It doesn't fix the cases
 where some kind of repeat is requested, but those weren't working anyway.

 Note that in current builds, the GNOME battery icon doesn't appear at all
 (#12329), so you need to use the above test app to see this.
