 Its sad that we have to delay 3 seconds on boot for all users, when only a
 tiny proportion of them will use displaylink hardware. I think this should
 be revisited with one of the approaches above.

 Another possible approach would be to look in /sys, I imagine after
 modprobe there will be some clue that a device has been detected. e.g.
 perhaps something appearing in /sys/bus/usb/drivers/udlfb (guessing, since
 I don't have the hardware).
