Comment:

 May be we can do olpc-volume set the gconf variable
 /desktop/sugar/sound/volume and add code in sugar to detect this change?

 We don't solve the problem if a user set the volume with alsamixer, but
 solve the issue with olpc-kbdshim / olpc-volume
