 Tony, thanks for reporting the issue.

 #11363 tracks the case where the mouse is unusable after boot.

 The case you describe where tap-to-click and scrollable edges are enabled
 is interesting. However, it is unrelated to this ticket - you are dealing
 with an AVC touchpad but this ticket is about synaptics.

 Could you reproduce the issue once more and file a new ticket that focuses
 exclusively on that?
 Also, one crucial piece of debugging: please check the values of those 3
 files when the issue reproduces. You can read them with 'cat'. Thanks!
