Comment(by wad):

 X starts up, blanks the screen, and shows the mouse cursor, but then
 stops.  This takes the user back to a text console.  This cycles
 repeatedly.

 Martin mentioned that X was complaining about not finding a keyboard as
 the reason for stopping.
