 given what you've found so far, i think it would be worth it to try and
 reverse the discovery order of the two chips.  it's at least worth some
 investigation.  the only client of rtc0 is powerd, so that's a much easier
 place to force a user-level change.

 i'm partly thinking of the years of confusion that will be caused by
 people trying to run our kernels on other distros -- debxo, ubuntu, puppy,
 etc.
