Scanner hotplug is unnecessary because the manufacturing test scripts
explicitly wait for the scanner to be connected, instructing the operator
graphically if the scanner needs to be attached. See
cpu/x86/pc/olpc/via/factory.fth : wait-scanner .
When the factory test scripts are integrated into the XO-1.75 firmware,
this functionality will become available.
I take on position on whether hotplug is in fact Quanta's issue; I am
saying that if it is the issue, then it is situation for which the
required solution already exists and will be deployed as a matter of
course (there is already a ticket for integrating the manufacturing test
scripts).
