 One key difference between the kernel included in 11.2.0 and the one in
 10.1 releases is that the 10.1 kernel retried sending commands when they
 failed out. The 11.2.0 kernel doesn't do that, because commands were never
 seen to actually work on retry, and I agree. But perhaps I had my eyes
 closed at one point when this did actually have an effect.

 So, please capture logs of a failure case with the following kernel, which
 now retries commands upon failure again:

 Debugging is back to normal, so it should be easy to reproduce the problem
 with this setup.
