Comment:

 Please provide the laptop serial number, which you will find under the
 main battery.  This will give me an idea of what firmware and software is
 likely to be present.

 Please also try removing the main battery, and the external power, wait
 ten seconds, and then try again.

 Please describe the history of usage ... when did the laptop last work.
 I'm asking this question so that I can see if what you have is an instance
