Comment:

 This is nothing to do with Scratch, and happens normally, as a result of
 our ALSA implementation.  I don't see why you would think it is a problem.

 You can reproduce it without X, or Scratch like this:

  * ''stop prefdm'',
  * ''watch amixer'' in one terminal,
  * ''sleep 5 && arecord tmp.wav'' in another terminal,
  * switch back to the first terminal and observe the change take place.

 First observed in 10.1.0 on XO-1.5.
