 number of months back, perhaps it landed in Dextrose and didn't get pushed
 upstream? If I remember correctly the main fix was to tweak the fill and
 stroke icon update code so that the update didn't get called twice per
 attempted frame.

 Hi Gary, thanks for commenting.

 Gonzalo has some improvements that are using the cairo functions 'scale'
 and 'zoom' to improve the launcher. This brings a speedup in the activity
 startup time and as well reduces the time a white window is shown nearly
 to zero. Stay tuned for a full patch!
