 Steps to reproduce:

 - install 852 on an XO-1

 - olpc-update to 860

 - run the activity updater

 - click in the interface

 ---> All the icons are gone. Hard to navigate in the UI.

 I have seen this two times. But have no way to constantly reproduce it.
