Comment:

 i've had a chance to try the script, and i see the same disruptive
 behavior on resume described by carrott.  (i can't actually get my
 touchpad to misbehave, so i can't actually speak to the script fixing
 anything.)

 i assume (though don't know for sure) that the script should only be
 necessary after a resume from "dark suspend" (i.e., induced by lid or
 power button), since power is maintained to the keyboard and touchpad
 during idle suspend.  so the interruption of touchpad operation might be
 less noticeable in actual implementation.  but it does take quite a long
 time, so i don't believe its operation will ever be completely hidden.

 conclusion: i still feel that requiring this script for proper touchpad
 operation is unacceptable.
