When running long-term memory tests on laptops, I've seen the test
programs killed by the system. Looking at the logs, it appears that these
were killed due to an out-of-memory situation.

These laptops were running OS19, on top of Q4B05 (stock). The
applications being run were memtester (on 200M) and test.sh from the Flash
wear levelling test (http://dev.laptop.org/~wad/test.sh, part of
http://dev.laptop.org/~wad/nand.tgz). test.sh calls dd, cp, and cmp.
While X was running, the test programs are being run on alternate screen
 consoles.
