 I can't see where plymouth-quit.service cancels getty at tty0.service. And
 your change didn't seem to have any effect here (but I'm only testing on
 XO-1).

 I think you're being mislead by the comment in the prefdm file. Normally
 prefdm cancels getty at tty0, but olpc-os-builder has already made changes to
 that file in order to not do that.

 Anyway, I think we should switch to using tty1 for X (like Fedora) and
 have consoles on tty2 and tty3. As long as when switching desktop, X
 remains on tty1. I just took a quick stab at this (basically undoing the
 olpc-os-builder changes) without much luck.

 This is further complicated on XO-1 because the DCON works, meaning that
 olpc-bootanim does its thing, which has some interactions with consoles
 during boot. Right now it works with pretty boot but not without. Also,
 diskspacecheck and diskspacerecover might have something to do with it. I
 think we're lacking some knowledge still...
