With the XO 1.5, I hear a high-pitched noise/whine when using the trackpad
in certain activities, notably eToys and Scratch. However this whine
seems to only happen (or at least be much more noticeable to me) when the
laptop is running on external power. The power adapters used have varied,
but include the stock XO 1.5 AC adapter, as well as a few other various
XO-supporting AC adapter types we have around the office.
The noise/whine reminds me of old TV/CRT oscillators, although it warbles
a bit and is not a single constant tone. Said noise seems to come from
the speakers (or elsewhere in the main top area) and does not get
redirected into a headset if plugged in.
Removing the AC adapter causes the noise to quickly fade (if you are
moving your mouse over the touchpad while doing this) and then go away.
Reproduction:
1. Startup Etoys or Scratch with an AC adapter plugged in with an XO 1.5
(I'm using production models of SKU 99 as best as I know).
2. Move your mouse along the touchpad with your head somewhat nearby the
XO and listen.
