 Sam -- one tool that will be useful to understand the actual behaviour of
 the network is airtime.py (search our wiki for it), which IIRC uses an
 XO-1 to capture and analyze all the traffic seen in a given channel.

 The Uy team built a GUI for it, "Sky Blue Tero".
