 I need to amend what I said in #comment:15

 I tried watching video on XO-1 with varied combinations of geode driver
 versions and build versions -- I can now say that __ALL__ of the F11-based
 versions exhibited jerkiness.  In my opinion, no F11_on_XO-1 was worse
 than geode 2.11.9-2 with os355

 I noticed a correlation regarding clock speed:  -- an XO-1 at 430 MHz was
 more jerky than an XO-1 at 460 MHz.

 On F14_on_XO-1 systems, one system was horrible -- all the rest had
 acceptable jerkiness.  [Disclaimer:  I do not know whether all these
 systems have the same transfer speed from their respective external
 storage device(s) on which the video data resides.]
